Botox & FILLER

 - Frequently Asked Questions

B

Botox smooths wrinkles by relaxing muscles, while fillers add volume to plump the skin. Both involve injections that may cause temporary pain, bruising, or swelling, and patients are often advised to avoid alcohol and blood-thinning medications beforehand. Results vary, but Botox effects last a few months, and fillers can last from several months to a year or more, depending on the type.

What is the difference between Botox and fillers?

  • Botox: A protein that temporarily paralyzes muscles to smooth dynamic wrinkles, like frown lines and crow's feet. It does not add volume.

  • Fillers: Injectable substances that add volume to facial structures, correct acne scars, or fill in static lines.

How often are treatments needed?

  • Botox: Typically requires treatment every three to four months, but this varies depending on the individual.

  • Fillers: The frequency depends on the type of filler and the desired outcome.

What are the potential side effects?

  • Common: Bruising, swelling, and pain at the injection site are common and usually temporary. Headaches can also occur.

  • Rare: If Botox is injected incorrectly, it can spread to other muscles and cause sagging or drooping. Other rare side effects can include flu-like symptoms or eye irritation.

  • Fillers: Can potentially trigger a cold sore in people who are prone to them.

How should I prepare for the treatment?

  • A week before: Avoid consuming alcohol and supplements or medications that thin the blood, such as aspirin or ibuprofen.

  • After the treatment: Avoid massaging the area. Some sources recommend waiting at least 24 hours before applying makeup to the treated area.

When will I see results?

  • Botox: Results are typically visible within 24 hours, with the full effect taking hold within a few weeks.

  • Fillers: Results are usually immediate, but swelling may obscure the final outcome for a few days.
